Remote Work, Productivity, and Organizational Communication
This piece demonstrates my ability to apply research and analytical thinking to develop clear, structured, and professional communication grounded in evidence
This white paper was written as part of an advanced professional communication course and examines how remote work has reshaped organizational communication and productivity. The rapid transition to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic raised significant questions about how organizations maintain collaboration, efficiency, and employee well-being in digital environments.
The goal of this project was to analyze existing research on remote work and evaluate how organizations can adapt their communication strategies to support employees while maintaining productivity. The paper draws on academic research and industry examples to explore the benefits and challenges of remote work and proposes strategies organizations can implement to improve communication and employee engagement.
This piece demonstrates my ability to conduct and synthesize research, and present complex findings in a clear, professional format commonly used in communication and policy environments.
CMNS3240-–-White-PaperThis piece was selected as my Depth example because it reflects my ability to engage with complex research and translate it into clear, structured communication. Unlike more narrative based work, this project required sustained analysis, careful evaluation of sources, and the ability to organize large amounts of information into a coherent argument.
One of the main challenges in this project was managing the volume and complexity of the research. At first, I found it difficult to balance detailed academic information with clarity, as too much information made the writing dense and harder to follow. I had to revise my approach by focusing on how to structure the paper more intentionally, deciding what information was essential and how to present it in a way that remained easy to understand for the reader.
This process pushed me to think more critically about how research is communicated, not just how it is gathered. I began to understand that depth in communication is not only about including detailed information, but about making deliberate choices in organization, tone, and emphasis so that the audience can engage with and understand the material.
Through this project, I developed stronger skills in research synthesis, analytical writing, and professional communication. It also reflects the Institutional Learning Outcome of Critical Thinking and Communication, as it demonstrates my ability to analyze complex issues, evaluate sources, and present information clearly in a professional context.
Developing this work strengthened my ability to translate complex research into accessible insights, reinforcing the importance of clarity and structure in professional communication.
